Project Description

An E-futures seminar about group processes availible to candidates and members. E-futures are a series of seminar like courses developed by Tau Beta Pi to teach engineers to be able to handle personal situations that occur in industry. This particular seminar addressed diffcultes running meetings and how to solve problems in groups.

Event Preparation

A request from TBP national was sent electronically a month in advance. The time was set at 1-5 PM since most student likes to sleep on a sunday. No one from California was avalible to facilitate so Nationals had to send J.P Blackford from Wash DC who was avalible to be the facilitator. 3110 Etcheverry was used because it was avalible and had proper A/V equipment. The room was reserved a few days in advance.

Problems Encountered

the major problem was that the key was not picked up the day before the event so I had to run around looking for rooms to substitute. Once i had found nothing, I had found that 3110 Etcheverry was unlocked and the Facilitator was already trying to set up. There was also a problem with the A/V equipment that we needed to fix before/during the seminar. The small problem that occured as the tardiness of candidates showing up. It would be a good idea to insist prompt show up because it slows down the session and hard to get people into the building.

Improvements Suggested

Perhaps a key should be made of the room in the event of emergencies. Promptness should be emphasized. So there probably shoudl be cutoff time for people arriving.

Enjoyment

Some people enjoy these sessions and some people tend to be bored with them. Overall i think people find them useful but not completely unintuitive. It is worth doing again but since people have to go, it will be done again.
