This is an opportunity for an inter-chapter event between the CA A and CA G chapters of TBP. It is a good way for our chapters to socialize and build a tradition around a major event between the two schools.

Project Description

The morning of the “Big Game” between the UC Berkeley and Stanford University football teams, the CA A and CA G chapters of TBP play a friendly game of touch football.

Event Preparation

Chapter President B. Love began fielding sign-ups for this event several weeks before the event to ensure there would be enough people to field a good team and to arrange rides. B. Love was contacted by CA G officer Jason Bay to coordinate planning for the event. Jason organized the location of the game (Roble Field on the Stanford campus) and advised the CA A people where to park. The day of the event, members and candidates from CA A met at Hearst Mining Circle on the Berkeley campus to carpool to Stanford to make it there and get playing by 10am. There was plenty of parking that early in the morning, especially since we were far from where the Big Game was being played. The game went well and we were able to play for over an hour before deciding to call it good and go the Big Game.

Problems Encountered

This Little Big Game went quite smoothly (aside from B. Love showing up a little late). Stanford has much more parking and field space on which to play the game as opposed to the previous year’s difficulty when it was at Cal.

Improvements Suggested

We should consider investing in some flags to make the game slightly more structured, as it seems like its seriousness has increased in the last couple of years.

Enjoyment

The game is a lot of fun to play and this is one of the traditions of our two chapters and should remain as such.
