This is a great way for TBP to give back to the community while socializing and enjoying the fleet weekend in SF.

Project Description

Every year at the Fleet Weekend, aircrafts and ships perform on the SF waterfront. This is a major fundraiser for the SF Senior Center, who makes profit from concession stands (water, soda, and beer). TBP candidates, members, and officers go out and help them with the concession stand sales.

Event Preparation

Alison Wilbur (phone: 415-775-1869, email: ASWSF@aol.com, SFSCag@aol.com) at the SF Senior Center was contacted about setting up a timeslot for volunteering. This event only happens once (or twice?) a year. To get to the event we took BART to Embarcadero, then MUNI 19. A warning coming back though: the shuttles get very crowded!!!

Problems Encountered

-Too many people signed up (supposedly). Try to limit sign ups to 10-15 MAX. -we had to walk *all* the way back to Powell BART station from Fisherman's Wharf because it was so crowded. Need better directions/ways to get back to Berkeley next time.

Improvements Suggested

See above

Enjoyment

Besides the long walk back, it was definitely fun. We had a good time after selling drinks because we got a chance to watch the show and just hang out in SF. Definitely a good bonding experience.
