A fun activity vs. HKN to encourage healthy competition with other honors societies.

Project Description

Basketball vs. HKN is done each semester. It is a fun activity where candidates and officers represent their respective honors societies.

Event Preparation

The VP had been in constant correspondence w/ HKN's Human Relations officer. HKN proposed both a date and a location for the event. A meeting spot was agreed on (HMC), and participants were asked to show up and meet at thsi location before proceeding to the actual location of the event. Willard middle school was proposed, but this location is used as a church parking lot on sundays. Also suggested was ohlone park. But a nearby elementary school was suggested at the last minute. Although not arranged, enough drivers also attended the event so that participants were not required to walk to the location. Drinks were also brought for the participants. These drinks were paid for out of pocket.

Problems Encountered

The last minute location change seemed likea problem. However, the extent of the effects were minimized since most participants met at HMC beforehand. One participant went to Ohlone park since he had not been notified of the location change. However, officers were sent to meet him there so he was not left behind.

Improvements Suggested

All participants should be asked to meet up beforehand and proceed to the location together. Those traveling on their own should be asked to bring their cell phones.

Enjoyment

People really seemed to enjoy it even though we lost. This event should be put on each semester for sake of tradition.
