Project Description
The beginning of semester meeting and general follow-up throughout the semester for the activities committee.
Event Preparation
At the beginning of the semester after the officer retreat, the activities committee convenes to determine who will be responsible for what events. Prior to the planning session, an email was circulated with a running list of events, so as to provide a starting point for the meeting. Kathy Wong called the meeting at her apartment and it was arranged via email. Everyone brought their calendars and midterm/project schedules to the meeting. Two people were assigned to a given week of the candidate semester; they were each responsible for holding one activity during that week, with the general goal of having two activities available per week. After divying up the different weeks, the list of ideas was added to, with consideration give to the cost and duration of the various events. The list was then circulated, with each person picking one activity they were willing to put on. Duplicates were generally discouraged so as to assure a larger variety. After divying up the activities, we discussed and placed the events on the calendar, trying to minimize the number of events that happened on weekends (so as to avoid conflicts with service events and E-futures).
Problems Encountered
Improvements Suggested
Enjoyment
Yes, at the meeting there was pizza and soft drinks. The committee members definitely got to know one another better. It is easier to organize the semester in person rather than over email or the phone.
