From Unofficial Guide to Engineering

Each department has an office for Student Services (Student Affairs). These offices contain information on classes, registration, graduate admissions, special programs, undergraduate research, fellowships, scholarships, etc. The advisors are really helpful. If they do not know the answer, they will point you in the right direction.

Each department has a mailing list that announces guest lectures, research and job opportunities, student group events, and university events. In most cases, you do not have to be a member of the department to be on this list. To find out more about the list, talk to other students or visit the department’s student services office.
